Quickie Bathroom Makeover ?

Our upstairs bathroom is actually also our laundry room. I don't have to gut anything or move any plumbing, just clad the walls in pine t&g,slap some white paint around and voila...how hard can it be right?
Well so far I have brought home  3 different types of wainscot,an MDF primed bead board which I thought would be great..didn't look too great at home..A package of 8ft pine t&g which you need a microscope to see the "g" and some solid planks from the mill. Then just when I thought I had it all figured out..I opened my Sept.Canadian House & Home

as I flipped through the pages I came across a bathroom I love page 112..I'd show it to you but it isn't on the web page...it is white horizontal boards top to bottom!!My husband is going to kill me,I wanted vertical 46 and 1/2 inches tall...oops,oh well if he's started then we can use them for the smaller spaces as the ceilings are all slanted it is a one and a half story house. It is going to be like putting a puzzle together, and cost a bit more than just the bottom of the wall..but it will look groovy!
I won't dare show you the before's just yet,I tore off wallpaper 5, yes, 5 years ago and have lived with the bare drywall since, lets just say the previous owner didn't prime the walls before papering and yeah,it's disgraceful,so instead of a complete gut!! I am going to to a complete cover up!!!
Here are a couple inspiration photo's I did find on the House and Home website...just to confuse me more!!!
image from the lovely Jane Coslick Cottages (I found the towels :)

wish me luck...one question...vertical? or horizontal??
thanks,
Natalie

I have both in my house! After 200+ years, they both look great.

I love the picture with the cup on the hook over the sink - how cute. There's nothing about this room I couldn't move right into, today, with just my robe and toothbrush...

I know I love it too..
I really really want to run the planks horizontal but after looking at the angles of the ceiling I am afraid it will look awful..
I mean I would have to do the ceiling too,the whole room...
I am going to have to settle for the bottom 2 thirds I guess..and go vertical :(
