Successful Auction Weekend!
This is the way is should be all the time!(I wish)What a great weekend! The weather held out therefore the store was swamped, and I was able to win a few great things (4 Quilts,2 hooked rugs,an old rugged canoe, set of 4 pine chairs,2 awesome old striped canvas lawn chairs, couple of small crocks,2 small blue and white ironstone pitchers, and an antique pair of wooden water skis) at two different auctions....even better we got an offer I couldn't refuse on 3 Bowmanville crocks. Busiest weekend since Christmas..glad to see people out and about,(and spending)before they head to cottage country in a few weeks. Got several compliments on the store (which is so nice to hear, makes all the hard work worthwhile) and people were visiting from as far away as Timmins On.about 8 hours north of Bowmanville.
Well it's Sunday afternoon time to close up and go sit on Jen's deck have a barbecue and a bevy!
Hope you had a great weekend! :)

I love when things just find me...
When it rains it pours, and this week has been no exception. I found yes found on the side of the road this antique bent arrowback chair begging me to save it. Also this sweet tulip jug found me,(not on the side of the road lol) but for a really great price from a thrift store. And just this am met a nice couple who were selling this amazing crock, and on their way to Port Hope stopped in our shop and offered it to us first!
I had a dealer from Port Hope in this week buying retro goodies from our basement..a huge 1950's Coke store clock from an Oshawa store, and some steel industrial floor lamps, gotta love when it sells before it even hits the show room floor.
Call it serendipity, fate or pure luck whatever you call it, it has been on my side this year!
I am a firm believer in "You Reap what you Sow" Galatians 6 vs 7-8. And God knows all I have ever tried to do is help people and be honest.

Rainy Day + helping hands = Quick Shop makeover
Its amazing what a little rearranging can do. Nothing better than a makeover that costs $0 (thanks to a good friend who is always eager to help and a few things selling to make room to rearrange.) We had a good day and the shop looks brand new..again! I say that every time.Easter Sunday I had a little visitor who was eager to help paint my front door..he did a great job (hard to find a painter on Easter Sunday)I had a turquoise in my head and thankfully the girl at Home Depot took the time to play around with the colour and we came up with our own perfect blue.My husband removed a 1960 something huge, ugly, rusted, air conditioner out from above the front door and replaced the hole with a piece of glass, what a difference it makes, there is so much light pouring in now..$20 for the glass.
Have to say goodbye to a beautiful piece of furniture tonight, a signed Bowmanville armoire made by Morris Furniture and Undertaker, but thankful it is staying in Bowmanville and can visit it anytime.
Isn't it nice to see the grass turning green?
