Slow and Steady wins the Race..

Progress is being made on the store ceiling reno..we had a party Friday and Saturday night,a painting part that is.
We slapped some Kilz primer around the walls, and danced around, no we didn't actually dance around, but we were happy to cover up some of the yucky stuff. It still baffles me that anyone would want to cover up such nice wood and molding.  It was considered old fashioned in the 70's I guess, they wanted to go modern.
We don't own the building so perhaps someday when we retire the next person will drop the ceiling again :S
Customers and nearby business owners are really impressed at the difference it makes to the ambiance of the space,it showcases our inventory so nicely. Their positivity and excitement keeps us pushing forward !!!
We are always interested in the history of our town, and especially what may have been in this location back in the 1800's when it was built. Who was here? Who lived up the staircase that was in the ceiling? We are in the process of finding out so we can share the info with people who come in. So far we have info leading back to the 1950's but there is a whole century before that of shops and folks who lived here and ran their business.
The ceiling has to be hand painted in between each groove, which is a time consuming process, especially since we've stayed open during the reno's our regular hours. It's a constant juggle moving things around to work on it. It definitely will be worth it in the end!
I rolled, Paul cut in..we had a couple friends pop in and they noticed the pumpkin reflection on my truck..kinda cute.
Parking her out front has attracted cool visitors..

Enjoy your last day of Summer :)
