Let There be Light! And There Was Light! And I Saw The Light, and it was Good!!

We are making slow but steady progress on the shop reno's!
To think we just started it a week ago is pretty good I'd say. Especially since we are doing it all ourselves and after hours,6pm till 11pm.There are tenants living above us so we have to stop the power tools by 11pm,also we have been open during the process as this is our busy season, turns out it is a great conversation piece with the customers.
They all seem to have the same attitude as we do.."Why on earth would anyone cover up that gorgeous ceiling?" I guess to save heat? or to modernize?
Who knows "why" people covered up character in the 1970's but we are getting a kick out of restoring the past! With over 50 hrs into the project and at least three extra pairs of hands it is "Gittin' Done"
While chatting with the landlord we discovered that the original light fixtures had been salvaged and were waiting patiently for the past 40 plus years (my whole life) to be resurrected from the next door stores basement :)))
Oh Happy Day when we found these, cleaned and rewired them and hung them back in their original spots!! Goodbye fluorescent, ugly, bright, cold lighting ,Hello beautiful fixtures..welcome back!! The bulbs cost $25 each but the "Price was Right" for the fixtures! The hydro bill will be another story as it just doubled due to our smart meter :S
Here is where we're at, one week after Jen talked me into tearing it all out sooner than later :P
Amidst all the rubble we still managed to get ready for Fall, thanks to my good friend Cindy!
Happy Hump Day!
