Bowmanville Antiques and Folk Art Show

It is that time of year again! The Bowmanville Antique and Folk Art Show is in town this weekend!!!

Distinguished Canadian Antiques Dealers
Specializing in Country Furniture,
Decorative Accessories and Early Folk Art

The 38th  annual Bowmanville Antiques & Folk Art Show takes place Easter weekend,  April 22nd and 23rd. Come and see why this premiere show has lasted so many years!

The country's top reputable dealers save their best to offer it for sale in this highly specialized show. This is one stop shopping for many eager collectors and dealers who come to acquire examples of the best Canadiana and folk art available. Painted furniture, stoneware, early lighting, native arts, pottery, textiles, decoys, paintings, folk art and great examples of decorative accessories are included in the many offerings.
Achieving the Bowmanville standard is no easy matter. With the exception of folk art, all antiques exhibited must be pre-1900, and the show is vetted, meaning that a group of experts check every single item prior to the gates opening. Items that do not meet the standard must be removed by the dealer.
How is Bowmanville regarded by collectors? Many of them line up hours beforehand, then rush into the room at full sprint when the doors open, wanting to be the first to get to their favourite booth.  The late Ralph Price, one of the vettors was quoted, “It’s better than going to a museum because you can buy!”

In The Master Bedroom..Would You Prefer it Rough? or Smooth?

Progress is being made in our master get away,at this rate the kids will all be grown and moved away and we won't need a get away...but nevertheless,it has begun to take shape..the wood should be well "climatized" by now as it has been patiently waiting since last fall.
the end wall has been strapped and is all ready for the boards to go on..

this is the latest dilemma..do we want the planks smooth side facing out?? or rough side facing out??
the top two are the rough  the bottom is the smooth board
The ceiling is smooth so I thought we should go smooth (and we will be painting them so smooth made sense)..until I went to Crate & Barrel and now we are undecided. I think the texture could work!
hmmm WWSD?
Sooner or later this will be what our morning looks like

Sally's Antiques in Oshawa

Want to go for a Sunday drive?? Do some great Antiquing??
Sally's is the place to go!
I am letting you in on one of my very favourite secret spots, close to home!
She is me,(my kids tell me we are the same person)well we are kindred spirits,we have the exact same taste. From the first day we met 5 years ago,we hit it off. She came into the store at our previous location and bought a sideboard (which she believes may have once been her mothers)...small world!  We sat and chatted for hours in her home later that evening when we delivered her sideboeard.
Since then we have bought and sold from each other, she also has things on consignment in our shop. She carries primitive furniture, collectibles, country kitchen utensils, lighting, old games, books a bit of everything!

We've joked about starting our own "Pickers Show" with us two chics digging through old barns, and attics.
She is only open Sundays 11-6 call ahead to be sure 905-655-8282
Located one km north of Winchester Rd at 3050 Ritson Rd. North
Say hi for me..
